Why Being An Employee Will Always Leave You Powerless (And How To Take Control Of Your Income)

Do you feel like you have no control over your life and income? Maybe you’re unsatisfied with your current job or career?

You’re not alone.

Many people, who work for someone else, feel unsatisfied with their lives. A global poll, conducted by Gallup, has uncovered that out of the world’s one billion full-time workers, only 15% of people are engaged at work. That means that an astronomical, 85% of people are unhappy in their jobs. Ref: https://www.staffsquared.com/blog/why-85-of-people-hate-their-jobs

Women are seeking financial and spiritual freedom more than ever, it’s no wonder the laptop lifestyle and a freedom-based business model is so widely desired by millions of millennial women.

But how do we go from ‘stuck and unfulfilled’ employee to ‘happy and on purpose’ digital entrepreneur?

By investing in ourselves, our digital education and our well-being. There is no quick fix to reclaiming your power and taking control of your income, it’s an investment and a journey. Investing in yourself, and taking action when the opportunity arises, is what will seperate you from the millions of others, grinding away, hoping for the next magic stroke of luck in their life (aka winning the lotto mindset type people).

The hardest part of any spiritual awakening journey and the journey from ‘stuck and unfulfilled’ employee to ‘happy and on purpose’ digital entrepreneur is taking the first leap and starting your own business (birthing your new idea and sticking to it, even when you’re not getting any return).

The benefit of starting your own business and backing your ideas is living life on your terms and knowing how to produce your own income. Imagine never having to worry about where you’re next paycheck was going to come from?

“Your economic security does not lie in your job; it lies in your own power to produce – to think, to learn, to create, to adapt. That’s true financial independence. It’s not having wealth; it’s having the power to produce wealth.” – Stephen Covey

There are a many reasons why being an employee will always leave you powerless but in this article I’m going to share 3 main reasons why being an employee will always leave you powerless and how you can reclaim your power and take control of your income.

1. You’ll always be trading your time for money

As an employee, you will always have to trade your time (our most precious, unrenewable resource, for money). There is no escaping this, unless ofcourse you work in a job that pays you a commission structure but even then, you’re still an employee and if you don’t make the sales you’ve been hired to make there’ll be consequences. Robert Kiyosaki, wrote a book called ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ and in it, he talks all about how to go from employee to entrepreneur and the benefits of being on the right hand side of his unique framework ‘the cashflow quadrant’ which means you would be a busines owner or investor. This is when you’re able to stop trading your time for money.

2. Your job is to fulfil expectations

As an employee, your job is only ever to fulfil a set of expectations you’re employer has outlined in your job description and in your contract. You have no say on whether those expectations are reasonable or not. One person’s standards and expectations are very different to the next persons’ so you’ll have to sacrifice the part of yourself that feels any kind of attachment or pride in the work that you do. If you become too attached to your job and your work, as an employee, you can experience depression, loss of identity and feelings of self-doubt and powerlessness. You can never take a job contract personally. Employers will hire you based on their expectations and their values. They will also let you go, if they don’t think you fit in. This is another reason why being an employee will always leave you powerless.

3. Your value will always be determined by your employer, not by the market.

Please note, your value in the market place is not to be confused with your self-worth. These are two very different conversations. You’re self-worth is NEVER negotiable. You’re value in the marketplace, on the other hand, is. It will be up to your employer, what value they believe your hold, in the market place and in their company. If you’re lucky, you’ll have an employer who values you and that’s great, that’s where you want to be, if you’re an employee but if you don’t feel valued, it may not necessarily mean that your employer doesn’t value you, it may just be that they don’t value you in the way you need to feel valued, for your to perform at your optimal level. We all want to be growing in some way, whether its by learning something new or challenging ourselves to go to te next level and this opportunity unfortunately can’t always be given to us by an employer for whatever reason so it’s your respsonsiblity to take matters into your own hands. Your life,  your responsibility.

Being an employee, isn’t a bad thing, it can lead you to exactly where you need to be but it can also hold you back from living your dream life and doing all the things on your bucket list that you dream of doing!

When I realised I didn’t want to be an employee anymore, that I wanted to do something more meaningful and fulfilling with my life, I invested in a digital education that taught me the high-paying skills I needed to go from ‘stuck and unfulfilled’ employee to ‘happy and on purpose’ digital entrepreneur. The digital economy is booming and more women are turning to their internet to take control of their lives and income. What a time to be alive!

If this sounds like something you could be interesting in pursuing, a life on your terms and a business you love then I want to offer you the exact same FREE video workshops that helped me get started online. They were truly the difference between where I was and where I am now.

I run my own lifestyle business, doing what I love and I’ve never been happier but it started with making the choice to invest in myself and upskill myself.

If you don’t make a choice to change or learning something new, you’ll continue to be at the mercy of your employer, feel stuck and powerless more than inspired and on purpose and never have the confidence to take that big leap and create something of your own. Creating a new reality doesn’t have to be hard. If you have the right training and mentorship, anything is possible.

The 6 Mistakes You’re Making That Are Costing You Your Happiness

I was going through a quarter-life crisis and found myself completely depressed at 28 years old. I was single, no kids, and feeling completely unappreciated in my job. I was extremely anxious about the future because moving forward would mean taking 3 steps back…and even then it wasn’t a guarantee that I’d actually be progressing in life or happy for that matter…
