A common myth among aspiring entrepreneurs is that to start a business, you have to constantly be selling. Well I want to dispel this myth by saying business is more about helping, than it is about selling.
If you’re a good helper. You’ll be good at business.
What are your focused on?
When I started my first biz, a not for profit digital agency, I thought if I don’t know how to sell, I’d never succeed. My focus and priorities we’re all wrong. I was so focused on selling myself and the business model, I forgot to actually help my clients. This is where so many of us go wrong (me included!), that’s why I feel compelled to share the wisdom I’ve picked up along the way.
Most people are contanstly focused on the outcome. More money, more growth, more clients. They are so focused on the gain, it shifts your business into a me,me, me energy. It’s why most fail in business.
If you want to run a profitable online business, whether that’s a coaching biz, a cooking blog or a hair care product line, your initial intention must be to help your market. That’s it. Even if it means you’re out of pocket to begin with. Yep, this is what entrepreneurship is about.

Starting a business is an investment
Starting a business is an investment. You won’t always see the rewards straight away. Just like when a farmer plants a seed. He doesn’t expect a harvest the next day or even in a few weeks. Sometimes it takes months or even years to see a harvest and return of his labour.
I know this isn’t exactly what you want to hear but it will help you. See, when I first started my business journey all I wanted was to live life on my terms. I was tired and didn’t want my schedule being run by someone else for the rest of my life. Dependending on what mood they we’re in, would dictate whether or not I could go on holidays or have an early mark.
Most people have ideas. Great ideas. And those ideas eventually die with them. Having an idea and having a business are different.
How To Turn An Idea Into A Business
Turning an idea into a tangible result for yourself and for someone else is the difference between successful entrepreneurs and those that give up.
Imagine if we we’re all courageous enough to turn our ideas into tangible results, share our story with the world and help people change their lives because of it. Imagine what you could create…Who you could be…
You don’t have to have 100 years experience or a PHD to be a successful business owner, you just have to be courageous. You also don’t need to do any sleazy selling to run a successful business. You only need 2 things.
1. To want to help.
2. Know how to market yourself.
That’s it. Truly.
There are strategies and tactics you can use to help you grow your business but if you’re just getting started, you only need to want to help and to know how to market yourself.

Don’t Ask For Permission To Start
A brief encounter with woman named Teal changed everything for me. Her light was shining so bright, she was a relationship and love coach. She was so confident, courageous and a total boss babe living her dream life and running her dream business. This paved a new pathway inside my brain and told my brain that what I desired was truly possible! Yep the encounter was that powerful.
When you let your light shine you automatically give other women permission to shine theirs. A lot of women struggle with self-doubt in the early stages of their business journey. I know I did.
Gosh, if I could rewind 2 years and tell myself, ‘Girl, you’ve got everything you need to succeed within you right here, right now!’ and you don’t need someone to give you permission or a University degree to tell you otherwise!’, I’d be so much further along in my journey. But it’s OK because everyone’s journey is unique and the only true predictor of success is how quickly you learn from your challenges.
I’m telling you all this because you don’t need a tonne of money, thousand of years experience and a huge social media following to start helping people. All you need is:
- To want to help
- Know how to market yourself.
Now go out and make it happen girl!
